The Challenge

Deutsch LA endeavored to modernize/transform its production model, re-envisioning what it means to produce something “in-house.” The agency renovated the 50,000-square-foot facility of Steelhead Productions, its full-service in-house production studio, from the ground up. For its new flagship space, Deutsch needed a technology infrastructure that could support real-time collaboration for high-intensity content creation workflows, as its existing systems could not keep pace with the demands of their creative teams.

The Solution

Deutsch adopted OpenDrives’ hybrid SSD/HDD and HDD expansion storage systems—powered by our Atlas software—as part of their world-class IT infrastructure at their new flagship facility. This solution enables Steelhead to accelerate workflows and content creation by giving production teams real-time access and collaborative capabilities while sharing projects from initiation to post-production. Now they can work smarter and faster, and deliver against quicker turnaround times.

OpenDrives allowed us to build a real-time collaborative post-production workflow in a massive shared editing environment at our state-of-the-art post-production facility Steelhead. We now have the ability to respond to clients faster in the post-production process.

The Result

Deutsch, with its in-house production studio, allows clients to walk in with an idea and leave with a completed piece of content. OpenDrives is the proven, scalable data storage backbone for the entire facility, enabling real-time workflows for Steelhead’s growing roster of creatives across talent bases—directors, editors, animators, motion graphics artists, designers, and more. Unencumbered by performance-related storage issues, teams can instead focus on what’s most important—delivering a high volume of best-in-class content and keeping their clients ahead of the curve.
